About SPBA

SPBA was founded in February 2002 with the aim of promoting Bangladeshi art. We operate according to two core principles. First, the sponsorship and support provided by us comes at no cost to the artist. Second, a significant portion of our resources are allocated towards supporting young and emerging artists.

As our first endeavor, we published Bangladesh Art - Collection of Contemporary Paintings in 2003. The book has received international acclaim and is available at bookstores and art galleries in many countries around the world. In 2008, we published Kibria. This book is a detailed look at the life and works of Mr. Kibria, a pioneer of modern abstract art in Bangladesh.

In 2012 we launched our quarterly Bangla language art journal Shilpoprobha. The journal covers current art related events both at home and abroad. Shilpoprobha features interviews and articles about important personalities in the world of Bangladeshi art. A special section is devoted to international art related events.

In addition to our publications, we have sponsored numerous exhibitions and art workshops throughout Bangladesh. We have supported Bangladeshi artists exhibit their work internationally by sponsoring exhibitions in France, Germany India, Italy, Japan, Pakistan and Poland.

We opened SPBA Gallery in November 2015. This is a very exciting development for both SPBA and the artists we strive to promote. Having our own gallery allows us greater flexibility in planning exhibitions and other art related events.

Going forward to we will continue to collaborate with other organizations in promoting the rich and vibrant artist community of Bangladesh.
